Tanggedu Waterfall
A waterfall inside a stepped rock canyon with blue pools, reached well beyond where the car can go.
The canyon itself
Tanggedu runs through rock carved into steps by the current over thousands of years. The high, layered walls are why some people call it Sumba's Grand Canyon. Deep blue pools form in several places along it.
The motorbike ride is included
The last stretch to Tanggedu cannot be driven. In our 4D3N package the local motorbike transfer at the site is included — you will not be asked to pay extra on arrival.
What to bring
Footwear you do not mind getting wet, plenty of water, and a hat. There is no shade on the trail, which is why we start early.
The season
In the dry season the flow drops and some pools become shallow. The canyon is still striking, but if swimming is the point, come between November and June.
